
TrayTec supplies and installs across four functional categories of process tower internals. Each product is available as supply-only, install-only, or supply-and-install under a single contract.
Fraction Trays
Fractionation trays, high-performance trays, and transition trays cover the full range of vapor-liquid contact requirements for distillation columns, fractionators, and absorbers. Standard fractionation trays are selected for conventional service across NGL, refining, and chemical applications. High-performance trays are specified for columns operating near flood limits or requiring maximum throughput in a fixed vessel diameter. Transition trays are installed at the interface between tray and packed bed sections to ensure proper liquid collection and redistribution.
Liquid Distributors & Mist Eliminators
Liquid distributors and mist eliminators are the two most performance-critical internals in a packed column. Distributor type and orifice geometry are selected based on liquid rate, column diameter, and packing type to ensure uniform distribution across the entire bed cross-section. Mist eliminators at the column vapor outlet are specified based on gas velocity, liquid load, and carryover sensitivity of downstream equipment.
Feed Inlet Devices
Feed inlet devices control the momentum and vapor-liquid distribution of the incoming process stream at the column feed nozzle. Selection is based on feed composition, vapor fraction, and nozzle velocity. Undersized or mismatched inlet devices cause maldistribution that degrades separation performance across the entire column, regardless of tray or packing quality.
Random & Superblend Packing
Random packing and Superblend random packing are specified for absorbers, strippers, scrubbers, and contactors where structured packing is cost-prohibitive or where fouling resistance takes priority over mass transfer efficiency. Superblend geometry provides improved vapor-liquid contact over standard random packing and is selected when separation efficiency requirements cannot be met by conventional ring or saddle geometries. Wedge wire support grids are installed beneath all packing beds to provide structural support while maintaining maximum open area for vapor flow.

TrayTec sources tower internals to the exact specification required for the application, column geometry, and operating conditions. We work with established manufacturers and supply to ASME, API, and project-specific material and dimensional requirements. Equipment is verified against the vessel drawing and process datasheet before delivery to site. TrayTec also provides fabrication services for custom internal components.

Our installation crews are experienced in working within the geometric constraints of field columns, including limited manway access, tight deck spacing, and confined staging conditions. Trays are rigged in sections through the manway, assembled in place, and leveled against the vessel drawing rather than assuming shop-fit dimensions transfer directly to field conditions. Pre-installation dry fits are standard practice on complex tray assemblies and high-performance tray configurations.

TrayTec provides full installation documentation including as-built records, levelness verification logs, downcomer clearance measurements, torque records, and photographic inspection reports for each deck. For inert entry work, confined space entry permits and gas monitoring logs are included in the project closeout package. All documentation is formatted to client requirements and available for third-party review.

Every tray deck is inspected against the vendor drawing and project specification before the crew moves to the next deck and before column closure is authorized. TrayTec verifies levelness, downcomer clearances, seal pan integrity, and fastener torque at each stage of installation. Client or third-party inspector access is standard on all projects and can be accommodated at any inspection point during the installation sequence.
