Fractionation trays are vapor-liquid contacting devices installed inside distillation columns, absorbers, and fractionators. Vapor rises through openings in the tray deck while liquid flows across and down through downcomers. Float valve trays are the most widely used, providing turndown up to 3:1 with a strong balance of cost and performance. Fixed valve trays offer superior fouling resistance. Sieve trays are the most economical for limited turndown in clean service.
Bubble cap trays handle very low liquid rates and wide turndown, including glycol dehydration, with ratios exceeding 10:1. Dualflow trays are effective in fouling services where vapor and liquid share the same openings without downcomers. TrayTec supplies and installs all fractionation tray types to your column specification.

Selection is governed by required turndown ratio, liquid rate, fouling tendency, and cost constraints. Contact TrayTec with your column operating data to confirm the correct tray type.

Bubble cap trays are specified where liquid rates are very low and turndown exceeds what float valve trays can handle, particularly in glycol dehydration and liquid-liquid contacting applications. Contact TrayTec to confirm whether bubble cap is the right specification for your service.

Contact TrayTec with your existing column drawings to assess the retrofit.
