Baskets attach to the vessel by welding to the head, bolting to tower attachments, or matching with a flanged projection. Diameter and length are sized to ensure more open area than the nozzle, preventing meaningful pressure drop addition. Slot size, wire profile, and material are selected to match the particle size and process fluid requirements. Hub laterals are available for larger diameter vessels where uniform liquid distribution through media across the vessel diameter is required. The basket is designed to provide more open area than the nozzle it protects so that even with partial solids accumulation on the screen surface, the basket does not become the hydraulic bottleneck in the system.
