Mesh mist eliminators remove entrained liquid droplets from vapor streams through impaction and retention. Crimped knitted wire mesh is stacked to a specific density and thickness, framed by a high open area grid on each face. Gas deflects around each wire strand while droplets, having greater inertia, contact the wire, coalesce, and drain downward. Standard mesh styles range from 5 to 12 lb/ft³ density with surface area from 45 to 200 ft²/ft³. Available in stainless steel, exotic alloys, and polymer materials to suit the corrosion and temperature requirements of your service. TrayTec supplies and installs mesh mist eliminators sized to your vessel diameter, vapor velocity, and process conditions.

Selection is based on vapor velocity, liquid loading, droplet size distribution, and operating pressure. Higher density pads provide greater surface area and finer droplet capture at higher pressure drop. Lower density pads allow higher vapor velocities with better drainage. Contact TrayTec with your process conditions and vessel geometry to confirm the correct mesh style for your application.

Mesh pads are the standard choice for moderate vapor velocities and liquid loads where fine droplet capture is required and fouling is not a concern. Vane packs are specified when vapor velocities exceed the flooding limit of mesh. Demisting cyclones are specified for high-efficiency separation at elevated velocities. Contact TrayTec to confirm which device type is appropriate for your operating conditions.

Yes. Retrofit mesh mist eliminators are available for existing vessels that were designed without internal support, installing through the gas outlet nozzle without vessel modification. Contact TrayTec with your vessel drawing and nozzle dimensions to confirm retrofit feasibility.
