Mist eliminators remove entrained liquid droplets from vapor streams inside separators, scrubbers, columns, and knockout drums, protecting downstream equipment from liquid carryover. The standard mesh mist eliminator uses knitted wire mesh compressed to a specific density and thickness that provides high surface area for droplet impaction, coalescence, and gravity drainage. Selection of mesh style, density, wire diameter, and material is determined by vapor velocity, liquid load, droplet size, operating pressure, and the corrosion requirements of the service.
